Five Human Design Types Walk Into a Brokerage Account
Human Design sorts everyone into four Types plus a hybrid, so five ways to decide, each with its own way of making decisions. Point it at money and it gets uncomfortably specific about why you buy what you buy, and why your friend does it completely differently.
A very young system with a very precise wheel
Human Design comes from Ra Uru Hu (born Alan Krakower), who said he received it on Ibiza in 1987 and published it in the early 1990s. It blends astrology, the I Ching, and a few other systems into a mandala of 64 gates, one per I Ching hexagram, each covering exactly 5.625 degrees of sky. It is a modern synthesis, not an ancient one. Your birth moment drops planets onto that wheel and out comes your Type and your Authority, HD's word for how you are built to decide. You do not need to buy the cosmology to recognize all five Types from a dinner party.
The five Types, holding money
Generators are built to respond. In HD doctrine the sacral center answers yes or no to what shows up, so a Generator does better reacting to a concrete option than inventing a thesis from nothing. If your best ideas all started with someone asking "have you seen this," that is you.
Manifesting Generators respond too, just faster and on several tracks. Three watchlists, two side projects, and a tab they forgot they opened.
Projectors are told to wait for the invitation. They see systems clearly but move through recognition, not initiation. Right early, ignored anyway, hi.
Manifestors initiate, and their strategy is to inform people before they go. Already bought the thing by the time you finish asking if they are sure.
Reflectors are advised to wait a full lunar cycle, about 29 and a half days, before major decisions. That is sleep on it for a month. Still deciding about the thing from March, and at peace with it.
Which one did you just defend
Read all five again and notice which one stung. That one is probably yours. Whatever you make of HD, you already have a decision style, and naming it is cheaper than learning it at the bottom of a trade.
What the app actually does with it
Your Type is computed straight from the tradition, on the Rave Mandala exactly as Ra Uru Hu's system specifies. The sector step is not. HD doctrine has decision strategies and zero opinion about equities, so when the app tilts a Generator toward industrials, staples, and tech (weighted 3, 2, and 2), that mapping is our own synthesis, labeled as such in the code.
